2021 Volkswagen Taigun Bookings Commence From August

After the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun is the second important introduction under VW Group’s India 2.0 plan. We now know that Volkswagen will open bookings for the Taigun in India by mid-August 2021, as the German carmaker prepares for the market launch in September.

Because the Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq share the same platform, various body pieces, such as the doors, roof, and glasshouse, are interchangeable. The Taigun, on the other hand, retains its own distinct individuality. The single-piece headlights, two-slat chrome grille, and chrome insert on the lower half of the bumper identify the front fascia. The tail light cluster stretches the length of the tailgate, and there’s even more chrome garnishing on the bumper below it.
While the switchgear on both SUVs is identical, the Taigun’s interior is more basic, with the infotainment screen integrated into the dashboard and a distinct design for the AC vents. The dashboard’s trim pieces will also be noticeably altered.

Top-spec SUVs will come with a 10-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the My Volkswagen connect app, as well as automated climate control, USB Type-C connections, a wireless charging pad, and more. The digital instrument cluster is where the Taigun will outperform the Kushaq. Six airbags, ESC (standard across all trims), tire pressure deflation warning, and ISOFIX child seat mounts are just a few of the safety features included in the Taigun.

The 2021 Volkswagen Taigun will be available with two turbo-petrol engines from the TSI family. The lineup will begin with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 115 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque. A larger 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 150 horsepower and 250 Nm will also be available. Both engines will come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. They will, however, have differing automatic transmission options, with the 1.0 TSI receiving a 6-speed torque converter and the 1.5 TSI receiving a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. The powertrain options are the same as the Kushaq’s.

The 2021 Volkswagen Taigun will compete in the midsize SUV market, which is now one of the most popular in terms of demand. It will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, and its own Skoda Kushaq sister. It’s worth noting, though, that the Taigun will be significantly smaller than the Creta or Seltos, but will still feature the segment’s longest wheelbase. Similar to the Kushaq, the 2021 Volkswagen Taigun is projected to cost between Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
