2021 Mahindra Thar booking has begun as selected dealers begin to take orders. The second-generation Thar is expected to be launched by August ahead of the festive season.
We have seen a test mule recently dropping heavy camouflage revealing a few details. It appears much larger in scale than the one of the previous generation. The elements of styling are modern too, keeping the retro look intact.
The 2021Mahindra Thar interior inside will get the latest steering wheel. It will be offering a new instrument cluster with digital MID. New dashboard design and broad touchscreen infotainment unit with connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mahindra will hammer out the rough edges and boost off-road vehicle ergonomics. We’ve seen test mules with second-row seats facing the front. The new model comes also with options for the soft top and hardtop configuration. Also, the new Thar gene will now come with both diesel engine and petrol engine options.
Mahindra will likely give it the new 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. It produces 187 BHP and a torque of 380 Nm. A 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 140 PS and 320 Nm torque will also be offered.
Another latest novelty is a 6-speed automatic transmission for the Thar. It will also come with a standard manual 6-speed gearbox. Of course, with low ratio gearbox and differential lock, 4 x 4 will be offered.
It’s predicted that the 2021 Mahindra Thar will arrive with a starting price above Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
