Kawasaki Z650RS 50th Anniversary Edition To Launch Soon In India

The speed with which time passes is an enigma. The Z1 was the first of the Z-Series motorcycles to be released by Kawasaki in 1972. The bike was and continues to be a Japanese legend. But, all of a sudden, it’s been 50 years since the Z1’s glory, and Kawasaki is celebrating by releasing a 50th Anniversary Edition for its Z-series bikes. Initially, the special edition was only announced for the Z900RS, but it was later expanded to include the Kawasaki Z650RS as well. The company posted a teaser for the two bikes on its social media account. Although the Kawasaki Z650RS has not yet arrived in India, the Z650RS can be found on Indian roads. And we’ll soon see the release of the anniversary edition Z650RS.

While no mechanical changes are made to the bike, it does receive a new colour scheme and special decals. It receives a special Red and Brown paint finish known as ‘Candy Diamond Brown.’ Kawasaki has come a long way since that time, so much so that the company is now known as Team Green. However, there was a time when the red and black colour scheme was the most popular on almost all Kawasaki motorcycles. The base coat on the bike is dark brown, with red infills on the fuel tank and rear panel. The fuel tank also gets a ‘Z 50th’ decal. The previously seen golden multi-spoke alloy wheels make an appearance in the limited edition as well, and they complement the overall look nicely.

The same 649cc 2-cylinder 4-stroke DOHC, Liquid-cooled engine powers the bike, producing 65Nm of torque and 67BHP of maximum power. The front brakes are massive 300mm dual discs with twin-piston callipers. A 220mm single brake disc is used at the rear. The bike has a tech-like assist and slipper clutch, dual throttle valves, Dual channel ABS, a horizontal back-link gas-charged mono-shock in the rear, and telescopic forks with 4.9-inch travel upfront.

The Kawasaki Z650RS has a lower and more relaxed riding position. Although Kawasaki has not made any official announcements about the launch of this Anniversary Edition bike in India, we anticipate hearing from them soon. This colour scheme and badging will undoubtedly raise the price of the bike; additionally, it will be limited in number or produced only for a limited time.
