Aprilia Tuareg 660 Unveiled

The new Aprilia Tuareg 660 adventure bike has been given a first look by Aprilia.

Aprilia has already released two 660cc models, the RS 660 and Tuono 660, and now the Tuareg 660 is the company’s third bike based on the same platform. While the Tuono and the RS are relatively close to each other, the Tuareg represents a bigger deviation from the design.

For beginners, the 660cc parallel-twin engine’s state of the tune has been substantially altered, and it now generates 80hp and 70Nm in the Tuareg, compared to 100hp and 67Nm in the RS 660. The Tuareg should have a much more useful powerband with more grunt coming in at lower rpms, which is what you want on an ADV, based on the drop in peak power and minor rise of torque output.

It also checks off additional ADV boxes. Wire-spoke wheels in a 21-inch/18-inch size pair are encased in block-pattern tyres, with 240mm of suspension travel on both ends. Aprilia also claims that the suspension is adjustable on both ends, but does not specify the degree of adjustment. The Tuareg also has a sump guard and appears to have enough ground clearance.

The Tuareg weighs 187kg (dry), which is about what you’d anticipate an ADV of this size to weigh. When its 18-litre gasoline tank is full, it will weigh almost 200 kilogrammes. A trellis frame holds everything together, and Brembo front brake callipers are used.

The Aprilia Tuareg 660 has all of the features you’d expect from a new bike in 2021, such as LED lighting, a TFT dash, four riding modes, and an APRC electronics suite. The Tuareg has an unusual design, with a solitary headlamp unit sitting beneath a big windscreen and a minimalist fascia. Although the bike lacks a beak, the sump guard, knuckle guards, and high-mounted exhaust give it a rough appearance.

After giving us our first glimpse at the Tuareg 660, we expect Aprilia to release worldwide pricing and full specifications soon, after which it will most likely arrive in India as a CBU. When it arrives, expect it to cost around Rs 13 lakh.
