2022 Auto Expo Delayed Due To COVID-19
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has announced that the 2022 Auto Expo would not take place as planned due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, the biannual event, dubbed ‘Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2022,’ was scheduled to take place at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida between February 2nd and 9th, 2022.
The Indian motor industry and SIAM have decided to postpone the event to ensure the safety of exhibitors, attendees, and all stakeholders involved.
SIAM stated in a statement that there is ambiguity about how COVID-19 will develop in the coming months, as well as concerns about a possible third wave.
It went on to say that the “magnitude of the risk of illness spreading is quite significant in a B2C exhibition like Auto Expo, which is attended by large crowds,” and that keeping social distance would be challenging.
The SIAM stated that the Auto Expo is like a festival of celebration for the auto industry and that it would require a year’s notice to plan the 2022 Auto Expo.
The actual date for the next edition of the auto exhibition is currently unknown. According to SIAM, the dates will be finalized later this year, taking into account the situation with COVID-19 as well as the OICA auto show calendar.
