Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Things To Know
The Ioniq 5 was unveiled by Hyundai as the company’s second all-electric vehicle in India, with an initial price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ioniq 5 is a rear-wheel drive vehicle with a 72.6kWh battery that the manufacturer says can go 631 kilometers on a single charge. To evaluate its performance, we subject it to our range test in the real world.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 excels in urban areas where there are many stop-go situations. You are likely to observe an average efficiency of 7.07km/kWh, which corresponds to a potential range of more than 500km. The efficiency falls to 5.67km/kWh at highway cruising speeds, where consumption is higher and there are fewer opportunities for regeneration, giving a range of 412km. Our combined cycle efficiency was 6.30km/kWh, giving us a practical range of 457km.
The Ioniq 5’s real-world range is actually greater than some of the premium electric SUVs we’ve tested and evaluated, which cost twice as much and have bigger batteries as well.
The battery in our test vehicle was completely charged before our real-world range test, and we kept the tire pressure at the manufacturer’s recommended level. We kept the automobile moving at predetermined average speeds while navigating certain city and interstate circuits. We determined the range based on the percentage charge used at the conclusion of each cycle. The climate control was left on full automatic during our test, while other devices like the music system and indicators were utilized as needed, much like a typical user would. We take pleasure in our testing results since they are reliable and accurately reflect what consumers might anticipate in the real world.
