The Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-ROC come with a 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine that produces the power of 150PS and torque of 250Nm. This powertrain comes with active cylinder technology which shuts down two cylinders for improved fuel economy during low loads. Although it can be loaded with tech, the 1.5-liter TSI engine of VW is down 13PS compared to the unit of the Jeep. It develops however an identical 250Nm torque.

You can only get the Skoda Karoq and VW T-ROC with a 7-speed DSG. On the other hand, a 6-speed manual is available for the base variant of the Compass, while top-spec variants use a 7-speed DCT. The Compass also packs in a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 170PS, a choice lacking by its European rivals.

That said, with its innovative design elements, lavish creature comforts, and a long list of safety features, the Karoq could grab customers searching for a compact mid-size SUV with an extra luxury dose.
