Skoda India has ultimately launched its mid-length SUV Karoq in the Indian market priced at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Karoq takes the vicinity of the quirky Skoda Yeti and sits beneath the seven-seat Kodiaq SUV in the Czech brand’s India line-up.

The new SUV of Powering Skoda is a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine from the TSI engine family of the Volkswagen Group. This unit is coupled to an automatic 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox that transfers 150hp and 250Nm of torque to the front wheels. The combined fuel economy figure rated WLTP by the Karoq is 14.49kpl. Skoda reports the Karoq has a top speed of 202kph.

The 2020 Skoda Karoq’s exterior looks much like the Kodiaq. The front end comes with typical Skoda styling features such as a butterfly grille and sleek headlamps with eye-lashes illuminated. The Karoq is fitted with a panoramic sunroof, optical instrument cluster Virtual Cockpit, 17-inch alloy wheels, full-LED headlights, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, configurable ambient lighting, full-LED headlamps, etc. Skoda’s five-seater SUV, however, misses a kit such as wireless charging and cooled seats available in more affordable SUVs.

The 2020 Skoda Karoq will be provided safety features such as 9 airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), MKB (Multi Collision Brake), TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), Parktronic System, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, rear parking camera, rear parking sensors and more.
The SUV will come as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU), and its segment is priced a little higher. Under the latest rule of the government, it will be imported into the Indian market in which automakers are allowed to import up to 2,500 units in a year without the need for approval. Its main rivals in the Indian markets are Jeep Compass, T-Roc, and the Hyundai Tucson facelift which will soon be introduced.
