2020 Honda Africa Twin Launched. Starts at ₹15.35 Lakh

Honda has finally launched the 2020 Africa Twin which is now lighter and has a bigger engine. The bike is loaded with a host of new tech compared to the previous iteration and now comes with a option of manual transmission for motorcyclists who prefer more control over their bike.

The 2020 Honda Africa Twin was launched by Ricky Brabec, who is the 2020 Dakar Rally World Champion from Monster Energy Honda Team.

The Africa Twin gets a bigger, more powerful 1,084 cc parallel twin engine which now produces 12% more peak power and 11% more torque compared to the previous 998cc parallel twin motor on the older models. It is 5kg lighter than the previous model and offers 10% more power to weight ratio, this was achieved by redesigning the frame and now consists of a aluminium bolt-on subframe and the swingarm is now made of aluminium.

The IMU unit on the 2020 Africa Twin has been updated with added features such as Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS With Off-Road Setting, Rear Lift Control and Cornering Detection.

Some more features have been added to the 2020 Africa Twin such as Adjustable 5-stage Windscreen, Dual LED Headlights, Cornering Lights, Tubeless Tires and Cruise Control, and the showstopper among these new features is the Multi Information Display (MID) with a full colour 6.5-inch TFT touch screen display. It comes with Apple CarPlay & Bluetooth connectivity. The TFT touch screen display can also be customized to show various levels of information relative to the riding mode chosen, and is easy to use even when wearing gloves.

Explaining the significance of the new 2020 Africa Twin and Honda’s plans ahead, Mr. Minoru Kato, President, CEO & Managing Director, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Starting 5 March 2020 , Honda has started bookings for the 2020 Africa Twin. Price starts from ₹15.35 Lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The Automatic DCT variant will retail at ₹16.10 Lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). Deliveries will commence from May 2020.
