2022 Hyundai Elantra To Launch Before New Verna

While the Tucson, the executive sedan’s SUV equivalent, has recently been introduced in India, the seventh-generation Elantra is yet to make its global debut. That will probably continue for some time since, according to our company sources, Hyundai is giving the new Verna priority for our market. According to the automaker, the new Verna will be substantially roomier and bigger than the previous model, and as a result, it may compete in both the midsize and executive sedan markets.

The new Verna has to expand in size in order to serve more markets, notably the US, where consumers demand big-sized vehicles. Additionally, the extra room will enable it more effectively to compete with competing midsize sedans like the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus. Hyundai believes that the higher Verna versions will do away with the necessity for a separate executive sedan model due to their larger size, high level of kit, and increased power.

2022 Hyundai Elantra

With just the Skoda Octavia as the only model, this market in India is all but dead. There is a likelihood that the 2022 Hyundai Elantra would be priced out of the running given that the Octavia’s price has already been beyond Rs 30 lakh and that the new Tucson has surpassed Rs 35 lakh. Hyundai will only take this risk after observing how the more costly and upscale Verna versions are received.

BN7, the next-generation Hyundai Verna, was sighted testing a few months ago in South India. The new model’s design was effectively concealed by the thick camouflage, but several aesthetic clues indicated that the new Verna’s design was probably largely influenced by the new Elantra. It will have a broad grille that blends into the headlights and adhere to the most recent “Sensuous Sportiness” design aesthetic.

Additionally, the spy shots hinted at a fastback-style design with a tapered roof, akin to the earlier Verna. The new Verna is anticipated to have angular taillights in the back, similar to the new Elantra. The new Verna is anticipated to include a large list of features in terms of equipment, including ADAS technology.

The 1.5-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines are anticipated to remain in the new Verna for the Indian market, and Hyundai may also add the more potent 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine from the Creta. Particularly considering that both the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are equipped with 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engines. A smaller turbo-petrol engine might be added to the lineup later, and the available gearbox options are expected to remain constant.

The brand-new sedan is anticipated to debut globally later this year, with an India launch anticipated for 2023.
The remarkable “Parametric Dynamics” design motif of the 2017 Elantra includes intriguing details like the cascading grille and T-shaped LED taillights. The next-generation sedan is built on Hyundai’s K3 platform, which the automaker claims are lighter than the previous generation. In addition, the new Elantra sports a 20mm larger wheelbase, which is 56mm longer, 51mm lower, and 26mm wider, giving passengers additional space.

For the first time, Hyundai is providing the Elantra with a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 32kW electric motor to provide a combined 139hp and 264Nm of torque. In other markets, the Elantra receives a 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a CVT transmission. Hyundai launched the Elantra N, a car with a 276 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, last year.
