2022 MG Hector To Launch In October
According to reports, MG will launch a significant visual makeover for the Hector SUV no later than October, just in time for Diwali. Inside and out, the 2022 MG Hector will receive significant visual upgrades, more equipment, and even Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, similar to that seen on the Astor SUV. MG is not anticipated to make any mechanical adjustments to the SUV with this facelift. The model had already undergone cosmetic surgery in 2021.
With the facelift, the Hector will get a new, wider grille on the front end than the previous model, as well as significantly updated headlamps and taillamps. The Hector facelift is rumored to have more luxurious interiors and a slightly modified dashboard design. With almost no bezels, the infotainment screen will be significantly larger. The makeover will also receive a new instrument cluster with improved visuals.
The addition of Level 2 ADAS technology will be the most significant change to the Hector makeover. Active safety technologies including Lane Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning will also be available on the Hector, just like they are on the Astor.
The 143 horsepower, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engines—one of which is fitted with mild hybrid technology—and the 170 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine will remain the only available powertrain options for the MG Hector facelift. Both engines come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, however, the non-hybrid petrol engine also offers a CVT automatic transmission as an option.
The MG Hector will compete against existing models such as the Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta as well as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which will go on sale soon, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Since MG entered India in 2019, it has only focused on SUVs. MG plans to launch a tiny EV in 2023, bucking the trend. The 2022 MG Hector has recently been spotted testing in India, and we were the first to break the news in our June 2022 issue. The new small EV, which is anticipated to cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, would be targeted at urban consumers.
