New Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition Revealed
There will only be 16 examples of the newly announced Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition. Each product is stamped with a number and is already sold.
This limited edition demonstrates Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) intention to disrupt the bespoke industry with a newly redesigned Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) business, in response to record sales from rivals utilizing a similar concept, such as Bentley Mulliner and Rolls-Royce Bespoke. By July 2022, Bentley had surpassed its 2021 profit record, which it attributed to an increase in personalization demands.
The Lansdowne Grey Gloss paint was specially ordered for the SV Lansdowne Edition and is enhanced by what Land Rover refers to as “unique design accents.” The 23-inch alloy wheels are finished in satin black with grey inlays, and the front and rear bumpers have chrome trim.
Its inside is made of distinctive rosewood, includes ceramic controls, and leather-bound carpeting, and comes standard with the Tailgate Event Suite, which allows owners to sit on folding chairs on the split-folding tailgate.
The New Range Rover SV Lansdowne will compete with bespoke luxury SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga Mulliner and Rolls-Royce Cullinan Bespoke, the latter of which has a starting price of £2,64,000, on the market. It is priced at £2,50,000 (approximately Rs 2.5 crore) in the UK (roughly Rs 2.62 crore).
After a challenging period, JLR believes the SVO segment will increase total profitability for the development of new models. Due to increasing sales of its Range Rover lineup, particularly in the US, it reported its first profitable quarter since 2020 towards the end of 2022.
JLR plans to stop dealing with consumers through dealerships and switch to an agency model by the end of 2024. Patrick McGillycuddy, JLR UK sales director, continued, “In addition to great automobiles like the Lansdowne Edition, we’re establishing places, services, and events that give unique and exclusive touchpoints for our clientele.
In India, consumers of premium vehicles are increasingly gravitating toward Range Rovers. Customers in India are buying the base model and just choosing the upgrades they need because they believe it offers them greater value. Since it has become more popular recently, the large British luxury SUV has been fiercely competing with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
The Range Rover, priced between Rs 2.39 crore and Rs 4.17 crore, the Range Rover Sport, priced between Rs 1.64 crore and Rs 1.84 crore, the Range Rover Velar, priced at Rs 89.41 lakh, and the Range Rover Evoque are all sold by Land Rover in India (priced at Rs 72.09 lakh). Also available from Land Rover are the Discovery (costing between Rs 93.90 lakh and Rs 1.32 crore), Discovery Sport (costing Rs 71.39 lakh), and Defender (priced between Rs 91.80 lakh-Rs 2.30 crore).
