Volkswagen Opens Bookings For BS6 Automatic Polo And Vento
Volkswagen opens bookings for Polo hatchback and Vento sedans with automatic models. This announcement marks the return of a BS6-compliant engine from Polo GT TSI and Vento High-line Plus, at a discounted price of INR 9.67 Lakh and INR 12.99 Lakh respectively.
Unlike the dual-clutch automatic gearbox found on the BS4 edition, both cars will now be equipped with an automatic transmission with a 6-speed torque converter, fitted to the 1.0-liter TSI engine. Deliveries are expected to start from September 15, 2020.
Both the BS6 Polo & Vento automatic transmission models are powered by VW’s 1.0-liter TSI engine, which is good for a power output of 108 bhp and torque of 175 Nm. The Polo GT TSI comes with dual airbags, black OVRM caps, GTI-inspired seats, and a black rear spoiler which distinguishes it from other variants. The Highline Plus model comes for the Vento complete with four airbags and headlamps with LEDs.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “Our brand philosophy at Volkswagen is to be a premium accessible car manufacturer in India. We are launching our automatic variant on the BS6 Polo & Vento with that intention. This will continue to deliver efficiency & improved fun-to-drive experience to customers, resonating with its philosophy of maximum power and minimal consumption.
He also said, we are making our carlines more available to the Indian customers with the launch of the automatic model. The smooth gearshift makes this ideal for the conditions of Indian driving. The AT transmission also reduces the overall operating costs and improves our overall ownership cost (TCO) experience positively.
Customers can now book their Volkswagen, through a 360 ° online retail experience available on the brand’s website, from the comfort of their home. For those who do prefer the physical buying process, they may also visit the nearest dealership. Polo’s BS6 AT variant is rated at a fuel economy of 16.47 kmpl while ARAI certifies the Vento to produce 16.35 kmpl.
Interestingly, the Polo retail Highline Plus AT model at INR 9.12 lakh (ex-showroom) provides the same package inside and outside, except the GT badge, the black-out roof, and ORVM, and a rear spoiler. If you are using your left foot and arm after milking the goodness of that TSI engine, the GT manual version asks for INR 9.59 lakh ( ex-showroom). The Highline Plus trim is no longer listed on the website, with a manual gearbox and the 1.0-liter TSI engine. However, it’s not the most up-to-date website so search for more information with your nearest VW dealer.
