Volvo S90 And XC60 To Debut On October 19

On October 19, the Volvo S90 and XC60 will receive a facelift in India. The redesigned S90 sedan was unveiled for international markets in February of last year, and the facelifted XC60 SUV was unveiled earlier this year. The refurbished models offer minor design changes, new amenities, and improved powertrains.

Both the sedan and the SUV undergo minor aesthetic modifications as part of the facelift. The S90 gets a new front bumper, fog lights, and sequential turn indicators, as well as a new front bumper and fog lights. The front fascia of the XC60 has been revised as well, with a new grille and bumper, as well as plenty of chrome trim. For all models, new exterior color options and alloy wheel designs have been added.

In terms of the interior, the new S90 is the first car in the world to feature an ‘Advanced Air Cleaner,’ which filters cabin air and displays air quality on the infotainment screen. Previously, the feature was only available on Volvos built in China. A new wireless charger, an updated Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and USB Type-C connections for rear passengers replace the 12V charging plug.

In order to provide a “smartphone-like” experience, the XC60 facelift gets a new Android-powered infotainment system that allows apps like Google Maps and Spotify to be added. A wireless charger has also been included.

In India, the S90 is equipped with a 190hp, 2.0-litre ‘D4’ diesel engine, while the XC60 is equipped with a more powerful 235hp, 2.0-litre ‘D5’ diesel engine. Both models come with 8-speed automatic transmission, with the SUV also offering all-wheel drive.

The facelifts, on the other hand, will witness a shift in attitude, with a mild-hybrid petrol engine likely to replace the diesel engines. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 48V integrated starter-generator motor will power the revised vehicles. The engine’s state of tune for each model has yet to be determined.
Both the Volvo S90 And XC60 are priced at Rs 60.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and are available in the top-spec Inscription trim. Expect the improved versions to be available in fully-loaded varieties as well, but pricing will almost certainly rise.

The facelifted S90 will compete against the Mercedes-Benz E-class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and the Jaguar XF, which is also getting a makeover. The Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and the impending Audi Q5 facelift, on the other hand, will compete with the XC60.

Genuine parts purchased and fitted at approved Volvo workshops from October 1 onwards will be backed by a lifetime warranty, according to Volvo India. In the event of a manufacturing defect, this includes the material and labor costs for repairing and replacing the part. This policy only applies to items purchased after the ordinary warranty period has expired, not to those replaced during the vehicle’s regular or extended warranty.

Furthermore, the ‘lifetime warranty on a pre-owned Volvo is not transferable to the new owner in the event of a sale and buy. The company also stated that its new plan does not cover regular wear and tear of parts, consumables, batteries, or accessories. Parts, consumables, batteries, accessories, and “software not related with hardware replacement” are not covered under the new system, according to the business.
