Mahindra To Launch Thar by June-2020.
The BS6 version of the Mahindra Thar will be launched by June 2020. If sources are to be believed, bookings will start by the end of April. The new gen Thar will be a brand new vehicle built from the ground up and will be very different from the outgoing BS4 model.
The 2020 Mahindra has been redesigned completely from the inside out. It has been spotted multiple times while being tested, starting from the front, the SUV gets a much wider and bigger bonnet and front grille. The grille has the signature 7-slot design, it continues to have circular headlamps. From the side, it looks much larger compared to it’s outgoing model. The new-gen Thar will have two options for the roof, hardtop and soft-top.
The interior of the 2020 Mahindra Thar is quite similar to the TUV 300 and the XUV 300, the steering wheel and instrument cluster is borrowed from the XUV 300 and the AC console is similar to the one found on the TUV 300, it is rumored that the Thar will be getting an 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There will be two engine options,
a 2.2-litre diesel and a new 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine, the diesel motor produces around 140 bhp of power while the petrol motor is expected to produce 190 bhp of power. Both options will have a 6-speed manual transmission with 4X4 gear ratios, we are not quite sure whether an automatic transmission is in development or not.
As for the pricing of the 2020 Mahindra Thar, we expect it to be costlier by upwards of Rs 1,00,000 compared to the old model. It will be competing against Force Gurkha and the Maruti Jimny
