2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Launched At INR 8.35 Lakh
The upgraded Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has priced at Rs 8.35 lakh. The Ertiga now comes with a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with DualJet technology and a mild hybrid system, as well as a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Along with it, the Ertiga receives a new front end and interior upgrades.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets a new front grille with a ‘winged’ chrome trim incorporated in it, new dual-tone alloy wheels, and a chrome garnish on the tailgate. Splendid Silver and Dignity Brown are two additional colours to pick from as well. The Ertiga redesign features a new dual-tone seat fabric and a new Metallic Teak Wooden finish (fake wood) on the dashboard.
The most significant modification, though, is the Ertiga’s new 1.5-litre DualJet engine with start-stop technology. This engine has two injectors per cylinder, which gives it more control over fuel injection and hence more power and efficiency. It produces 103 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 136.8 Nm at 4400 rpm, down 2 horsepower and 1.2 Nm from the previous 1.5 engine.
The Vitara SUV marketed in other countries is powered by the same engine, however as a full hybrid with 148hp of combined output. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, will not provide a full hybrid system in India, but it will include start-stop technology. Maruti Suzuki formerly only offered DualJet technology in its 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series engines. This is the first time the company has made it available on its larger 1.5-litre engine. The same engine is expected to be used in larger Maruti vehicles.
A 5-speed manual transmission comes standard. In addition, the former model’s ageing 4-speed torque-converter automatic has been replaced by a new 6-speed unit with paddle shifters. The Ertiga facelift is said to get 20.51 kpl with the manual transmission and 20.30 kpl with the automatic transmission.
In addition to the 1.5 DualJet engine, Maruti has added a CNG option to the new Ertiga’s portfolio. When running on CNG, it produces 87hp and 121.5Nm, and when running on petrol, it produces 100hp and 136Nm. The Ertiga facelift CNG is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission and is rated at 26.11 km/kg.
The top-spec ZXI+ trim of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift comes with a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also comes with Suzuki Connect, which has over 40 features and an onboard voice assistant.
4 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, hill-hold aid, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, parking camera, cruise control, auto headlights, electrically foldable ORVMs, air-cooled cupholders, and AC vents for all three rows are among the other standard equipment.
Maruti Suzuki intends to release six new models by mid-2022, including the new XL6. The Baleno CNG, upgraded Vitara Brezza, and Ignis and S-Presso with DualJet are among them. Maruti Suzuki will also unveil the all-new Creta-rivaling midsize SUV later this year, which is being developed in partnership with Toyota.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga competes with the Mahindra Marazzo, Kia Carens, and its XL6 brother, which is also getting a facelift.
