2023 BMW X1 Revealed

By posting a teaser photograph of the next-generation SUV, a BMW dealer in France has announced a preview event for the new X1. The new X1 will have extensive aesthetic and interior improvements, as well as revised powertrains and, for the first time, a full-electric variant dubbed iX1. BMW has stated that the new SUV will be available later this year.

The third-generation BMW X1 is still a mystery, but the next-generation SUV is expected to come with a variety of powertrain options. BMW is expected to equip the X1 with a 306hp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine as the range-topping model, according to sources. This is the same engine that presently powers the BMW M135i and BMW M235i. The new X1 is also expected to include a plug-in hybrid powertrain, though additional information on that is pending.

The 2023 BMW X1 SUV is expected to have a more chiseled design, similar to the larger BMW SUVs. The X1 will have larger kidney grills, like many modern BMWs. On the inside, it’s believed to take design cues from the recently released BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, which is already on sale in Europe.

BMW will sell a full-electric X1 alongside the ICE-powered variants, similar to the upcoming 7 Series, with rumors indicating that it will be available in both single and dual-motor configurations.

At the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the latest generation BMW X1 was presented in India. In 2020, the SUV underwent a major update that included minor visual modifications, BS6-compliant engines, and a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for the petrol model.

The 2023 BMW X1 now competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Volvo XC40. Audi is also slated to release the long-awaited new-generation Q3, which will compete with the X1, later this year.

The new-generation BMW X1 will not be available in India for some time. With a global unveiling scheduled by the end of the year, the new SUV is projected to arrive in India in 2023 at the earliest.
