2023 Hyundai i20 Made Its Global Debut

Hyundai has revealed the first images and facts about the redesigned i20, which will go on sale in Europe soon. According to insiders, the introduction of the i20 makeover in India is still some time away. The current-generation i20 went on sale in the United States in mid-2020, although it was not available in India until the end of the year.

Hyundai has made a few changes to the interior and exterior of the third-generation i20 as part of the mid-life update. A closer look reveals various aesthetic changes, particularly to the front and back bumpers, to keep the design current. The grille has been somewhat modified, and the front bumper now has two massive arrow-shaped inlets on either side. The chin is now larger and more prominent, and the lowest half has a contrasting black finish. The headlamps, which are full-LED ones in Europe, remain unchanged.

In addition, the Hyundai emblem has been relocated from the grille to the base of the bonnet and has been given a new 2D design. The 2023 Hyundai i20 also gets new alloy wheels, with 16-inch units in lower trims and 17-inch units in higher trims. The back changes are minor, with minor adjustments to the dual-tone rear bumper and a more noticeable faux rear diffuser. The exterior paint hue palette has been expanded with the inclusion of a new Lime metallic colour, Lumen Grey, and a Meta Blue pearl shade.

The 2023 Hyundai i20, like the current model, will be constructed in Turkey for the European market and will continue to be supplied with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with 48V mild-hybrid technology. It will be offered with either a seven-speed DCT automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox.

While there are no significant modifications to the i20’s interior or equipment list, a noteworthy feature is the inclusion of ADAS as standard, which includes lane following assistance and forward collision warning and aid. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster has also been upgraded.

As previously stated, the current-generation i20 went on sale in India a few months after its global debut, implying that a makeover for the India-spec i20 is still in the works. The i20 facelift for India will have comparable stylistic changes as well as country-specific modifications to the powertrains, tyre sizes, and equipment.

Depending on the engine, the i20 marketed in India is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.0-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine connected to either a five-speed manual, a CVT automatic, an iMT or a DCT automatic gearbox. When it is released in India, the i20 facelift will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza.
