BMW 220i Sport Launched – Priced At INR 37.90 Lakh
The Gran Coupe BMW 2 Series is now available in a new 220i Sport oil trim entry-level. The price of 220i sport is around Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom), less than the fully loaded 220i M sport, but some of the equipment is missing.
The BMW 220i Sport lacks the sporty styling parts on 220i M Sport, starting with the exterior, as opposed to the latter 18-inch. The Sport is based on smaller 17-inch alloy wheels.
The optical instrument cluster and touchscreen of 10.25 inches are a notable absence. Instead, of a digital monitor, and a compact 8.8-inch touchscreen, the 220i sport is equipped with traditional analog dials, although it maintains its voice support. The smaller touchscreen lacks the 3D map feature for the 10.25-inch navigation interface. A curious note is that the 220d Sportline diesel input stage gets a 10.25-inch twin display. The 220i sport is also provided with a special trim insert and a separate M Sport steering wheel.
The BMW 220i Sport is also missing out on parts including LED fog lamps, a Wi-Fi charger, a Hi-Fi 205W audio system, and a 220i M Sport control, but it is available as a set with sunroof panoramic, two-zone air-conditioning, LED lights, ambient lights, cruise control, paddle shift, front seats, rearview camera, six airbags, ABS, ESC and the traction control.
As for the 220i M Sport unveiled earlier this year, the 220i Sport is powered by a 190hp turbo-petrol engine with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and a dual-speed automatic transmission. For the four-door petrol coupe, BMW claims the sprint time from 0-100kph to 7.1 seconds.
The Gran Coupe 2 Series will compete with the next Mercedes-Benz A-class Limousine to be launched in India tomorrow. The upcoming Audi A3 is scheduled to debut later in the year as another challenger to the BMW.
