BMW X7 M50d launched, priced at Rs 1.63 crore

BMW has introduced its X7 line-up in India with the range-topping variant M50d, priced at Rs 1.63 crore (ex-showroom, India). The flagship SUV of the German carmaker is now available in four versions-the 30d DPE (Rs 92.50 lakh), the 30d DPE (Rs 1.02 crore), the 40i M Sport (Rs 1.07 crore) and the M50d. Unlike the other three models which are assembled here, however, the top-spec M50d is introduced as a CBU.

The BMW X7 M50d is powered by a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder, quad-turbocharged diesel engine which produces a torque of 400hp and 760Nm. The engine is attached as standard to an automatic 8-speed transmission, which transmits power to all four wheels via the xDrive system of BMW. The M50d does 0-100kph in a claimed 5.4secs and has a maximum speed limited to 250kph.

Being an M model, the M50d gets more sporty elements in styling compared to the rest of the series. It gets a more angular front bumper, a tweaked rear diffuser with larger exhaust ports, and finishes in body color with the wheel arches and side skirts as well. It sports larger alloys with various styles, an exhaust system with M Sport and blue calipers with M Sport brakes.

The long list of equipment includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and gesture control, Bowers and Wilkins sound system, digital instrument cluster, three-piece glass sunroof, Laser LED headlights, soft-closing doors, five-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, air suspension, wireless charging and reclining feature for all three rows of seats.

Buyers can also configure their SUV according to their preference, using BMW Individual’s optional accessories.

The BMW X7 M50d is competing with other luxury high-end SUVs, such as the Range Rover Sport, Audi Q8, and Porsche Cayenne. Another main competitor for the BMW X7 is the forthcoming, new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS series, whose launch is scheduled for 17 June.
