BSA Scrambler Concept Revealed

A Scrambler idea from BSA is based on the Gold Star 650 neo-retro roadster. The BSA Scrambler concept, while obviously influenced by the Gold Star 650, stays true to its name thanks to what may be long-travel suspension and dual-purpose Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires.

At least in terms of appearance, BSA has perfected the Scrambler concept. The bike has a particularly good-looking, yet tough appearance thanks to features like a front beak, fork gaiters, a bespoke exhaust, and the minimalistic rear fender. The BSA Scrambler Concept is finished in a custom paint job that features the red and white BSA logo on a grey background. The side panels have also been changed, and the triangular piece of the Gold Star sits atop a round racing plate bearing the number 28.

The bike’s blacked-out engine is shared with the road-legal BSA Gold Star 650, but the exhaust system is brand-new, with a wrapped header emerging from the large single-cylinder engine and ending in a short, slash-cut twin-exit exhaust. Along with a thorough revamp, the suspension hardware now has what are probably longer-travel units at each end. Although the suspension hardware is notably different, no information regarding travel statistics has yet been made public.

The Gold Star’s road-biased footpegs have been replaced with braced, taller handlebars and grippier off-road footpegs, suggesting that the ergonomics have also changed. Although the flat bench seat appears to be large enough for two people, the absence of the passenger footpegs shows that this bike is still very much a concept and is considerably different from a production-spec bike.

The Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp rubber used on the Gold Star has been replaced with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR dual-purpose rubber.

We still have to wait before taking a closer look at the Gold Star 650 or any upcoming models from the storied British company, as BSA hasn’t disclosed any plans to enter the Indian market. This bike would compete with the upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler, which has been spotted testing both abroad and in India if it were to go into production.
