Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV Teased Before Its Reveal On September 8

Mahindra has teased the XUV400 EV, its first all-electric SUV for our market, for the first time. The Tata Nexon EV will face direct competition from the XUV400, which will make its global debut on September 8, 2022.

The teaser depicts the new Twin Peaks emblem, which is also completed in bronze, along with the closed-off grille, which has an X-patterned bronze and black design.
The eXUV300 concept that was displayed at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo appears to have a front end remarkably similar to this one. It has more streamlined rectangular headlights but lacks the other XUV versions’ drop-down LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRL). Instead, the DRLs of the XUV400 are incorporated into the headlamp cluster.
The XUV400 was recently seen in action during testing, and from the images, it is possible to see the front bumper’s crisp contours and triangular fog lamp housings. The XUV400 and XUV300 are similar in profile, with the former having a comparable glasshouse and character lines. The car will have a redesigned tailgate design, wraparound taillights, and a more noticeable license plate housing at the back.

The XUV400’s powertrain options have not yet been disclosed by Mahindra, but reports indicate that the SUV will most likely have two battery pack options and one front-wheel drive electric motor with about 150 horsepower.

The Mahindra XUV400 Electric will get an upgraded infotainment system with information relevant to electric vehicles, and it may also have the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

The Mahindra XUV400 Electric will serve as the foundation for Mahindra’s electric SUV strategy in India, and the company’s first born-electric SUV will follow before the end of 2024. The Tata Nexon EV, which presently only has the somewhat more costly MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV as direct competitors, will face off against the XUV400 EV.
