MG Astor To Launch On October 11

On October 11, MG Motor India will reveal pricing for the Astor SUV. The MG Astor is essentially the petrol version of the ZS EV, with modest cosmetic variations and additional features. There will be two engine options and eight versions available for the Astor.

A 110hp 1,498cc normally aspirated petrol engine or a 140hp 1,349cc turbo-petrol engine will power the MG Astor. The 1.3-liter engine will only come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, while the 1.5-liter engine will come with a 5-speed manual or an 8-step CVT auto transmission.

As previously stated, the Astor is available in eight different colors: Style, Super, Smart Std, Smart, Sharp Std, Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red. Except for the top-spec Savvy and Savvy Red grades, the 1.5-liter petrol engine will be offered with a manual transmission. The Astor Style won’t have an automatic transmission or a 1.3-liter engine.
MG has placed a strong emphasis on its artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant and equipped the mid-size SUV with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which employ a camera and radar mounted in the vehicle to perform functions such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and others.

LED headlamps and DRLs, leatherette upholstery, electric parking brake, tire pressure monitor, 360-degree camera, heated wing mirrors, steering weight adjustment with driving modes (normal, urban, dynamic), panoramic sunroof, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are among the other notable features on the top-spec Astor.

Over and beyond the ADAS functionality on higher-spec models, safety features like six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESP, traction control, hill start, and descent control, and rear disc brakes will be available.

In an interview with Autocar India, MG President and MD Rajeev Chaba stated that the Astor will be sold at a rate of roughly 3,000 units each month. The MG Astor is expected to be priced reasonably, between Rs 10 – Rs 16 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
