Tata Altroz CNG Launched At A Price Of Rs 7.55 Lakh

The Altroz iCNG was introduced by Tata Motors for Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Altroz features Tata’s unique dual-cylinder CNG tank setup and is the first CNG-powered hatchback with a sunroof.

With the exception of the ‘iCNG’ logo on the latter’s tailboard, the visual differences between the petrol-powered variant and the Altroz CNG are minimal. In order to increase boot capacity, Tata hid the two 30-litre CNG tanks under the floor of the trunk. Earlier, the boot space was almost entirely occupied by CNG tanks. The boot of the Altroz CNG is 210 litres, as opposed to the conventional Altroz’s 345 litres.

Similar to the fuel Altroz, not much has changed inside either. The same 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, an air purifier, a wireless charger, automated headlights, and other features are included. The addition of the voice-activated, single-pane sunroof on the XM+ (S), XZ+ (S), and XZ+ O (S) grades, however, makes a significant impact.

A 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox powers the Altroz CNG. It generates 88 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque in petrol mode, compared to 77 horsepower and 103 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Its immediate competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG produce a similar 77 horsepower but only 98.5 Nm of torque while operating on CNG. Additionally, the Altroz may start in CNG mode immediately, unlike its competitors.

As previously indicated, the Toyota Glanza CNG (Rs 8.50 lakh–9.53 lakh) and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG (Rs 8.35 lakh–9.28 lakh) are competitors of the Tata Altroz CNG. Compared to the Baleno CNG and the Glanza CNG, the Altroz CNG’s beginning price is Rs 80,000 and Rs 95,000 less, respectively. The top-spec Altroz CNG XZ+ O (S) costs Rs 1.27 lakh more than the Baleno CNG and Rs 1.2 lakh more than the Glanza CNG, despite the fact that it is available in more trims than its rivals.
