BS6 Toyota Camry launched in India at Rs 36.95 lakhs, ex-sh

Toyota Camry D-segment sedan has been now updated to meet the BS6 emission standards and is priced at Rs 37.88 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 93,000 more expensive than the BS4 standard.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle comes with a 4th generation hybrid-electric engine with 2.5L petrol engine and dynamic force 4-cylinder to meet the self-charging electric motor that purrs with maximum silence. The IC engine produces 178 hp and 221 Nm of torque while the electric motor is rated at 120 hp and 202 Nm of torque. The combined power output stands at 218hp. The system is available with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and paddle shifters.

The hybrid powertrain has the power to allow pure electric driving mode. The system offers three driving modes -Eco, Normal, and Power. There are no visual differences between the BS6 and BS4 version. As it belongs to the premium sedan segment, it comes with a pack of features including a touchscreen infotainment system, a JBL sound system, Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Hold, powered front seats with ventilation, LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, Smart Entry System with Start/Stop Button, power-adjustable steering column, rear sunblind, sunroof, and even a head-up display!

Keeping safety in mind the Toyota Camry is also stuffed with 9 airbags, reverse parking camera, ABS with EBD, cruise control, BA, VSC and traction control, hill start assist, park assist, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It is available in 7 color options -Platinum White (pearl), Silver (metallic), Attitude Black, Burning Black, Red Mica, Phantom Brown, and Graphite (metallic).

It doesn’t have any direct rival except the Skoda superb which is expected to be updated soon.
