Toyota Hilux Spied- Launch Soon
The Toyota Hilux has been spotted yet again in India, but this time the pickup truck was spotted in Gurugram, Haryana while being used to film a TV commercial.
As previously reported, the Hilux, which is based on the same platform as the Innova Crysta and Fortuner, is set to hit the market in the country next month.
The Hilux, which is based on the Japanese automaker’s IMV-2 platform, which also underpins the Innova Crysta MPV and Fortuner premium SUV, should fit quite comfortably in the fledgling lifestyle pickup segment.
With a length of over 5.3 meters and a wheelbase of about 3.1 meters, it is by no means a small vehicle, and it appears that India will only get the double cab version at first.
In terms of styling, the recently spotted Toyota Hilux is identical to the model sold in (for example) Thailand, with a bold grille with a thick chrome frame, projector lights, a prominent front skid plate, multi-spoke alloy wheels with generous travel, side steps, and a large enough load bed.
The car also has a heavy dose of chrome seemingly everywhere and appears to come with some accessories. Inside, it should have an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an electrically adjustable driver seat, auto air conditioning, and other features.
Toyota is expected to offer both 2.4-litre (150 PS and 400 Nm) and 2.8-litre (204 PS and 500 Nm) turbodiesel engines with the car. The transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and automatic and yes, a 4-wheel drive variant will be there too.
Toyota’s pickup truck, which will primarily compete with the Isuzu V-Cross, is expected to cost as much as certain premium SUVs currently on the market.
