Yamaha Aerox 155 Price Hiked By Rs 2000

Yamaha Motor India announced today that the Aerox 155, a maxi scooter based on the R15, will now be Rs 2,000 more expensive. The Monster Energy Edition is now Rs 130,500, while Metallic Black and Grey Vermillion are both Rs 1,31,000. Prices are all ex-showroom. This isn’t surprising given how every car and bike manufacturer is raising prices.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a brand-new 155cc Blue Core engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve motor produces 15 PS at 8,000rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm when mated to a CVT transmission. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is the most powerful scooter in its class, competing with the Aprilia SXR 160, which produces only 10.38 PS and 11.6 Nm of peak power and torque.

The maxi-scooter receives a new engine head and a more compact combustion chamber for a higher compression ratio and improved combustion efficiency. It also has a Smart Motor Generation System for silent engine starts and a start-stop feature for increased fuel efficiency. The fuel tank holds 5.5L of fuel, and we estimate the fuel efficiency to be between 35 and 40 km/l.

The Aerox 155’s front end features a bold design with split twin LED headlights, and the LED turn indicators are flush with the side fairing. The taillight is made up of 12 LEDs that create a 3D effect. Overall, the scooter has large proportions, giving the impression that it is a large scooter. The front suspension is 26mm telescopic, with dual pitch springs similar to those found on motorcycles.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 rides on lightweight 14-inch wheels with tubeless tires measuring 110 mm (front) and 140 mm (rear) and braking is handled by a 230mm disc brake with ABS at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The ground clearance is 145mm. The trail on the chassis was lengthened by 5mm for improved straight-line stability and a motorcycle-like feel. The Maxi Sports Scooter also comes with a large 5.8-inch LCD screen with Multi-Information Display (MID), which displays a speedometer, RPM, VVA indicator, and Y-Connect App Phone notifications, Maintenance recommendations, Last parked location, Fuel consumption, Malfunction notification, Revs Dashboard, and Ranking.

The fuel refill option has been provided with an external fuel lid for the convenience of riders. The displayed information can also be toggled using the handlebar switch. In terms of storage, the front compartment has a charging socket with a port at the bottom for the charging cable. A storage capacity of 24.5 liters is provided beneath the seat, enough for one full-face helmet and a few trinkets. The footboards are also steeper for a sportier feel and a forward-leaning riding position.
