2020 Kia Seltos ready to upgrade with features added

2020 Kia Seltos

With the launch of the Seltos ‘mid-size SUV, Kia Motors India made its debut back in July 2019 and created quite an impression on the segment. New exterior, interior, and comfort features can come in a variety of models. The Seltos is currently available in a total of 18 versions including six options for the engine-gearbox.

Hyundai Creta was the big, undisputed leader in this segment before Kia Seltos came in. Hyundai couldn’t let go that quickly, so this year Hyundai brought the Creta with a fully upgraded version. When the Seltos arrived in India, their USP was their long list of specifications, practicality, excellent efficiency, reasonable pricing, making the numbers of sales move upward.

The 2020 Kia Seltos HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and GTX automatic gearbox-equipped models should see the introduction of remote engine launch. The HTX and GTX will shortly offer powered sunroof and LED cabin lights, features that were previously only available on the HTX+ and GTX+ trims. In addition to this equipment, all variants will come standard with features such as USB charging for the first and second rows of seats, and an emergency stop signal.

Both models –excluding the HTE and the HTK–will soon arrive with the dual exhaust feature on the higher versions of the rear bumper. Even Kia will offer metal scuff plates on the HTX and HTX+ variants; this was previously only available on the GTX and GTX+ trims.

With either a 140hp, 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine, or a 115hp, 1.5-liter diesel mill, the range-topping Seltos GTX+ will soon have an all-black interior with contrasting red stitching. Additionally, on the AC control panel as well as on door grab handles, the HTX, HTX+, GTX and GTX+ trims will come with faux metal garnish. The Seltos HTK+ variant gets a faux leather finish on the gear knob and a gloss black finish on the dashboard, lower down the range.

The engines can be fitted with a CVT, 6-speed AT, or 7-speed DCT, respectively; while a manual 6-speed transmission is standard across the range. The Kia Seltos shares its platform with the 2020MY Creta from which also comes with similar choices powertrain.

Kia dealers have started re-opening pan-India with the relaxation of the lockout restrictions. Likely to be accompanied by a mild price hike, the Seltos will go on sale in the coming months with the updated features list.
