55% of the bookings for Hyundai Creta are for diesel

The second-generation Hyundai Creta was launched in March this year and it is being reported that people are choosing the diesel variant of this car more than half of its total booking. Though there are low numbers of sales because of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are using Hyundai’s online portal for booking their favorite car.

Tarun Garg, Director, Sales, Marketing and Service, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, has been quoted by carandbike as saying, “I’m very happy to inform you that 55% of the bookings for Creta are for diesel.”

It is shocking news that even if there are two options of petrol engines like the 1.5-liter natural aspirated engine and a 1.4-liter turbocharged motor that produces 140 ps, people like the diesel option more.

Though, the powerful engine option – 1.4 ltr Turbocharged engine with 7-speed DCT and steering-mounted paddle-shifters, the variant has the price tag of 16.16 lakh (ex-showroom) which is almost 10 lakh more than the base petrol/diesel variant. So it only has a sales share of 5.4%.

People liked the Creta’s Diesel motor more than the other variants which can produce 110 ps and have options like either the 6-speed manual or the 6-speed automatic option. It has rivals like Kia Sletos and Nissan kick in the market.
