2020 Kia Sonet teaser revealed

Kia Motors India unveiled its new Sonet SUV ‘s second teaser, which will see a world premiere on August 7, 2020. The latest teaser reveals the front design of the model, which is staying more or less true to the original. The Kia Sonet will come in production form with an intimidating ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and chunky front bumpers.

Although this new teaser is concentrating on the front design, a few days ago Kia had announced the rear styling of the SUV. The design of Kia Sonet introduced at Auto Expo 2020 was obviously very close to production, as some minor details have changed.

Similar wraparound units with LED components inside are the tail-lights – the upper half includes the stop lamp while the lower bit has indicators and reverse lamp. Thin reflector strip links the tail-lights, which replaces the LED light bar seen on the model. The Kia logo lies below this. What appears to be a heavily raked rear windscreen flows deep into the boot area and continues to the sides, making it a wide glasshouse.

Other features visible in the 2020 Kia Sonet production-spec teaser include roof-rails, a roof-mounted lip spoiler, a rear wiper, and an antenna rear-set.

The Kia Sonet is entering a highly competitive market and the specifications are supposed to fit with it. Segment-leading package is expected to include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen display, Kia’s UVO in-car communication software, a premium Bose sound system, and a sunroof.

The prices of the 2020 Kia Sonet are predicted to be in the Rs 7-12 lakh (ex-showroom) range when it comes in September. A range of engine gearbox choices will be on offer – a 1.2-liter petrol manual; a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol with manual and dual-clutch auto choices; and a 1.5-liter diesel with automatic manual and torque-converter options.

In reality, with the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, there will also be a clutchless manual option (iMT) – this technology is expected to make its debut on this month ‘s rival and sibling of the Sonet, the Hyundai Place.
