2022 Hyundai Palisade Unveiled At New York Auto Show
The upgraded Hyundai Palisade SUV debuted at the New York Auto Show in 2022. Hyundai’s flagship SUV gets a mid-cycle facelift with a new exterior style, an upgraded interior, and extra features.
When you look at the 2022 Hyundai Palisade, the redesigned front-end styling is the first thing you’ll notice. The old grille has been replaced by a ‘Parametric’ grille that is considerably broader, wider, and more upright; the LED daytime running light signature has been modified and relocated further out to the edges; the headlights have been refurbished, and the front bumper has been altered with a cleaner look.
With the exception of the new alloy wheels, the new Palisade looks almost identical to its pre-facelift counterpart. The rear is also essentially intact, with the exception of a re-profiled bumper and a neater diffuser portion. A similar grille design is expected for the Hyundai Venue facelift, which is slated to arrive in India soon.
A new, robust Palisade XRT edition is also available, which features a black finish on the new 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and front grille, as well as a rugged front and rear bumper with faux skid plates.
The overall layout and design of the interior are similar to that of the previous model. Hyundai, on the other hand, has made several improvements, including a new four-spoke steering wheel, a larger 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new AC vent design that spans from the center to the passenger side, and revised physical media control buttons. New Nappa leather upholstery, USB C connectivity for all three rows, a massaging driver’s seat, and new four-way adjustable second-row headrests are also available. The seats, according to Hyundai, are also more ergonomic than previously.
Other features carried over from the previous model include a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, heated steering wheel, heated/cooled front seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and remote opening/closing tailgate.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist are among the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) available on the Palisade.
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is powered by a 3.8-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 petrol engine that produces 295hp and 355Nm. This is mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission that sends power to two or four wheels, depending on the configuration.
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade was being considered for India by the Korean automaker in 2020, but no official announcement has been made. Instead, Hyundai has a number of new models planned for the Indian market this year, including the all-new Tucson and facelifted versions of the Kona EV, Creta, and Venue. The all-electric Ioniq 5, which was just named World Car of the Year for 2022, is also on its way to India.
