2023 BMW i5 To Make Its Global Debut On May 24

On May 24, the new BMW 5 Series will make its global debut. BMW will launch the all-electric i5 alongside the eighth-generation 5 Series. BMW has revealed aspects of the interior and exterior design of the electrified vehicle ahead of its introduction.

Only the front of the 2023 BMW i5 is shown in the teaser. It appears that the kidney grilles on the EV car will have lighted surrounds, similar to the new 7 Series. The slim headlamps, which each have two vertical LED daytime running lamps, are also visible. Because it is an EV, the 2023 BMW i5 will have an I badge on the grille, just like the previous BMW I vehicles. It will also most likely include blue touches on the outside.

The i5 has the same dashboard layout as the 7 Series. It gets a huge, free-standing touchscreen that appears to store the temperature controls for the air conditioning and runs BMW’s new iDrive 8.5 operating system. Other AC controls are housed in a separate housing beneath the screen. The i5 also has ambient lighting elements that wrap across the dashboard and onto the doors, similar to the new 7 series. However, unlike BMW’s premium sedan, the teaser indicates that the ambient lighting bar under the infotainment system is not connected.

The next 5 Series will be offered as an EV, the i5, as well as petrol and diesel engines with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The new 5 Series will also be available with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The i5 is planned to have power outputs ranging from 340hp to 544hp, as well as an 80.7kWh battery with a range of up to 563km (WLTP).

We previously predicted that BMW will launch the new 5 Series in India in long-wheelbase (LWB) form in 2024, competing with the incoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB. BMW India now sells the 5 Series in two trim levels, the 520d M Sport and the 530i M Sport, with prices ranging from Rs 65.90 lakh to Rs 68.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Because BMW sells the i7 in India, we anticipate the i5 to arrive alongside the ICE-powered 5 Series.
