2023 Zeekr 003: VW ID 3 Revealed Ahead Of Europe Launch
The new five-door model is a key component of Zeekr’s plans to double its annual sales to 140,000 units in 2023 and will be launched in a few European markets after being unveiled at the Shanghai auto show in April. This will mark the beginning of an aggressive global push by the Chinese automaker, which was founded in 2021.
The 2023 Zeekr 003 is built on the Scalable Electric Architecture (SEA) platform from parent firm Geely and goes by the internal designation BX1E. Zeekr employed this platform for its first two production models, the Zeekr 001 shooting brake and Zeekr 009 MPV.
There hasn’t been much information released on the electric 003’s drivetrains, but, buyers will have a choice between single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive systems, with outputs ranging from roughly 268bhp to 422bhp in the highest performance variant.
The small SUV was designed by an internal team working under Stefan Sielaff, Geely’s design director, at Geely’s design facility in Gothenburg, Sweden. Zeekr is known for producing vehicles with cutting-edge aesthetics and sophisticated details.
The front headlights are set horizontally and have tiny LED driving lights incorporated into the closed lines of the bonnet, giving the vehicle a design that is evocative of Lynk&Co, a brand owned by Geely.
Large wheelhouses with prominent crease lines within the surrounding bodywork, traditional rearview mirrors, flush door handles, an upswept belt line, broad C-pillar treatment, and a sloping roofline are all features of the new Zeekr model’s side.
The rear appearance is dominated by distinctive horizontal tail lights with straightforward LED graphics situated at the foot of the window, giving the 003 a lot of optical breadths. The outside margins of the rear bumper are likewise equipped with vertical reflector modules. The rear window wiper on Zeekr’s most recent model may be the smallest one ever installed on a production automobile, and the tailgate features a high-loading lip.
