BMW XM Launched At A Price Of INR 2.60 Crore
The BMW XM SUV has been introduced at a price of Rs 2.60 crore (ex-showroom, India), making it the flagship model in the country’s lineup. Since the mid-engined M1 supercar of the late 1970s, the XM is also the second custom BMW M product.
The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine in the XM, which produces 489 horsepower, is coupled with an electric motor to create the first plug-in hybrid M model. This permits an overall power output of 653 horsepower and 800 Nm. This engine is mated by BMW to an 8-speed automatic transmission that uses the M xDrive system to distribute power to all four wheels. The Label Red, a more potent variant of the XM, will hit foreign markets in September 2023. The output of this type is 748 horsepower and 1,000 Nm.
In addition to having an impressive 0-100kph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds, the XM also has an 80km pure EV driving range. The luxury performance SUV also has an electronic damper control system, an adaptive M suspension, and a new 48V system, which aids in rear-wheel steering and lessened body roll via active anti-roll bars.
The BMW XM, which is around the same size as the X7, has a striking exterior with features like a split headlight arrangement, a large illuminated kidney grille with gold accents, and vertically stacked exhaust outlets at the rear. Customers have the option of 22 or 23-inch wheels in addition to the 21-inch wheels that come standard on the XM.
The XM’s interior features the same layout as the iX and i4 from the BMW lineup. Unlike any other M car before it, the back seat has been designed as an “M Lounge,” with a clear emphasis on occupant comfort. The XM comes equipped with the newest iDrive 8 software, a 14.9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.
In India, the BMW XM competes with other high-performance SUVs including the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Lamborghini Urus Performante, and Aston Martin DBX 707. The Bentley Bentayga Speed and the Ferrari Purosangue are two of its other main rivals. BMW also unveiled the upgraded M340i and the S1000RR superbike in addition to the XM.
