Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol bookings open at Rs 11,000
Maruti Suzuki ‘s premium Nexa dealership network, today officially declared the launch of the new BS6 S-Cross bookings. The S-Cross is Maruti Suzuki’s only variant which has yet to follow the tougher pollution requirements.
The automaker has revealed it is now taking pre-orders in India for the BS6 crossover SUV for a token price of Rs. 11,000. As mentioned earlier, the S-Cross’ BS6 version would be a petrol-only platform as India’s largest carmaker has removed all of the diesel engine choices in the revised emission norms.
The S-Cross will now incorporate Suzuki ‘s Smart Hybrid technology with a 1.5 Liter K-series petrol engine. This latest powertrain is expected to deliver a power output of 104.69 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque that peaks at 4,400 rpm and is the same engine currently driving the Vitara Brezza and Ciaz. The transmission duties are performed by either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an electronic gearbox with a 4-speed torque converter.
The S-Cross dissects the 1.3-liter multijet diesel model that came from Fiat and is popularly regarded as the country’s ‘largest diesel engine.’ This engine had developed a peak torque of 90 bhp and 200 Nm. Whereas the BS4 Maruti Suzuki S-cross – which was diesel-only manual – was available throughout the board of mild-hybrid tech, the BS6 variant would only include the software on the mechanical models, close to the Vitara Brezza.
The electronic gearbox will be available on the three higher versions of the S-cross petrol; a total of four models will be available – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.

So far as specifications are concerned, expect the car to be sold with provisions such as LED headlamps, auto-folding ORVMs, alloy wheels, engine push-button ignition, automatic climate control, cruise control, etc. This can also provide a state-of-the-art Smartplay digital infotainment interface that is compliant with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The steering wheel will have incorporated several control keys, and a telescopic switch will be made. Rear seats will seat 5 people, but it also has a 60:40 break. It will get dual airbags in terms of protection, speed detecting warning, ABS with EBD, front and rear disk brake, etc.
