Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance Launched At A Price Of Rs 3.30 Crore

The GT 63 S E Performance, Mercedes-newest Benz’s AMG flagship model, is now available in India for the price of Rs 3.30 crore (ex-showroom). The 4-door coupe, which debuted on a global scale in September 2021, is not only Mercedes-first AMG’s plug-in hybrid, but also its most potent production model to date. Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One winner, will deliver the keys to all GT 63 S E Performance clients, according to the brand.

Mercedes-Benz also reported 16,497 vehicles and SUVs were sold in FY2023 (April 2022-March 2023), representing a growth rate of 37% overall. Also, it delivered 4,697 brand-new automobiles in Q1 2023 (January 2023–March 2023), an increase of 17%. The AMG E 53 Cabriolet 4Matic+ marked the beginning of the top-end vehicle (TEV) sector, which had an increase of 107 percent overall.

Santosh Iyer, managing director & CEO, of Mercedes-Benz India, said, “Our ‘best ever fiscal’ and ‘best ever Q1’ demonstrates the high desire for Mercedes-Benz among the discriminating Indian luxury car consumers. “With this sales success, we continue our product offensive, launch new initiatives, and remain fixated on improving our customer experience, remaining the most coveted luxury brand in India,” the company said.

Based on the GT 63 S 4-door coupe, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance has the same 639 horsepower, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine. This powerplant produces a total output of 843hp and 1,470Nm of torque when linked to a 204hp electric motor positioned on an axle at the back. With this power, the Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance is able to reach a top speed of 316 kph and accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 2.9 seconds, according to claims.

The supercar boasts a 6.1kWh, 400V battery pack from Mercedes-AMG that weighs only 89kg. This fuels the motor, which has a claimed range of 12 km and a top speed of 130 kph in EV-only mode.

Seven drive modes and four degrees of regenerative braking are also included in the AMG GT 63 S E Performance, the latter of which, under certain circumstances, enables one-pedal operation.

The Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance differs slightly from the basic vehicle in terms of its exterior styling. These differences include a revised front bumper that is based on the two-door AMG GT, new exhaust outlets, and unique new designs for the 20- or 21-inch alloy wheels. A flap that contains the charging port is also added to the sedan’s rear bumper. The normal GT 63 S 4-door coupe and the PHEV 4-door coupe have the same exterior design other than these features.

The interior of the AMG GT 63 S E Performance has undergone minimal alterations, much like the exterior. The super sedan, like other Mercedes PHEV models, provides drivers with a variety of hybrid-specific information via the MBUX infotainment system, including an EV range indication, real-time power usage data, and an electric motor power gauge. By switching between “balanced” and “powerful” using the controls on the center console or the steering wheel, drivers can additionally improve the audio quality inside the vehicle.

The company claims that the waiting time has been shortened for the majority of its vehicles, which range from the A-Class to the GLS Maybach. While the S-Class has a waiting period between 2 and 6 months, sedans like the A-Class, C-Class, and E-Class have to wait periods of less than 3 months. Although waiting times for its EV models, such as the EQS and EQB, range from two to six months. The waiting time for the brand’s GLE and GLS SUVs is between 2 and 6 months, while the wait time for the G-Class and GLS Maybach is between 8 and 16 months.

There is only one direct rival for the Affalterbach super sedan in India, the Rs 2.76-crore Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid (ex-showroom, India). The market debut of the AMG GT 63 S E Performance fits with Mercedes’ growth goal for 2023, which calls for the introduction of 10 vehicles in the high-end market.
