Mercedes EQC India To Launch On October 8, 2020

On October 8, 2020, in India, the Mercedes-Benz EQC will be launched. With the SUV’s market debut, Mercedes is the first luxury car manufacturer in the country to launch an all-electric model to beat Audi and Jaguar’s likes, which are also making available their EV services for our market.

Although the EQC shares its foundations with the traditional GLC, Mercedes reworked the design to make sure it stood out. With a piano black grille flanked by a pair of swanky LED headlamps, the front fascia looks distinct. The back is characterized by a continuous light belt that connects the sleek tail lamps and the unique alloy wheel with a blue detail confirm the green credentials of the vehicle.

The cabin is like that. This is typical Mercedes new age but with details such as a ribbed finish on door pads, bronze inserts on air-con shutters, and new-age textiles polishing the EQC as the all-electric offering by Mercedes.

The e-SUV includes seven airbags, a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen, Attention Support, and a 12.3-inch Touchscreen Infotainment system, including the connected car tech, the voice help, and sunroof.

The Mercedes EQC is powered by the combined 408hp and 765Nm of touch, two asynchronous motors, one on each axis. An 85kWh Lithium-ion Floor-mounted battery pack can supply a 400 km WLTP-certified range for one charge.

Charging times are tied to the standard electrical supply of 15A (3.4kW) at 21 hours, or the wall-box loader of 7.5kW provided by Mercedes at 10 hours. The 50kW DC Network of fast chargers that gradually cross different cities can reduce these charging times significantly.

The Mercedes EQC will not come in cheap, because it is a fully imported electric vehicle. Expect rates in the Rs 1 crore range (ex-showroom). Even if there are no direct competitors at launch, the Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace, which will also be Indian in the next few months, will eventually have to compete.
