Ola Electric is planning to launch an Electric Scooter for the Indian and International markets.
Ola Electric has recently acquired Etergo BV, a Netherlands based EV manufacturer and has announced that they will be entering the premium electric two-wheeler segment in India as well as outside the country.
There are no confirmations, but the first product from Ola Electric could be based on the AppScooter, which has received many awards globally for it’s design and engineering. The scooter was launched in 2018 and has a range of upto 240 Km. It also features swappable high energy density batteries.
The swappable batteries weigh around 7.5 Kg and need around 2 hours of charging. The batteries are arranged in modules and each pack consists of three modules, if a user plugs in all three modules, they can achieve maximum range. Other features of the scooter include a TFT colour instrument cluster with navigation and smartphone connectivity, 50 liters of underseat storage.
On this acquisition, Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman, Ola Electric said, “The future of mobility is electric, and the post COVID world presents an opportunity for us to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility globally. Every year, almost twice the number of two-wheelers are sold across the world compared to cars. With electric, digitally connected capabilities, two-wheelers will further emerge as the most preferred urban mobility paradigm around the world and empower every consumer. We look forward to building the best global capabilities in engineering, design, and manufacturing for these products to be made here in India.”
