Skoda Rapid TSI Automatic Launched At INR 9.49 lakh

With the introduction of the 1.0-Liter-TSI engine, the Skoda Rapid received a new life expectance earlier this year, and by adding an automatic gearbox the Rapid lineup now grew. The automatic Skoda Rapida TSI, ranging from Rs 9.49 to 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India), has now been launched.

The Skoda Rapid TSI, which was launched earlier in the year with a manual gearbox of only six-speed, has now also been given the option of a completely new six-speed automatic torque converter. This is the same gear Box which was introduced earlier this month in the Volkswagen Polo and Vento, and Rapid automatics still have the same 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline as the manual R R.

Skoda has already reported a 16,24kpl fuel efficiency of the Rapid Automatic ARAI; the 18,97kpl Rapid TSI manual has been rated. The 1.6 MPI benzene engine – coupled with an automatic 6-speed engine – with a 14.84kpl certified ARAI fuel efficiency figure should be noted.

The Skoda Rapid TSI automatic is available at the same trim level as the manual version, except for the base Rider variant, which is “virtually sold out” by 2020, according to Skoda Auto India Brand ManagerZac Hollis. The automatic selection starts with the Rider Plus and comprises Ambition, Onyx, Style, and the Monte Carlo versions of the range.

The Rider Plus has the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, while the superior Style and Monte Carlo have a cruise control, the reversing camera, automated lighting and wipers, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and an interior self-dimming mirror in the rear. Equipment levels are the same as the Rider Plus handsets. The fast style gets side airbags as well.

With the Skoda Rapid TSI automatic now equipped with a self-driven gearbox, the Skoda can compete on an even greater footing with the new Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Toyota Yaris with their new cousin, Volkswagen Vento.
