Suzuki Jimny 5-Door To Debut In 2022

Whilst the Suzuki Jimny 5 door is still to be fully revealed, new changes are still being released, bringing us info on the next SUV. Last month we shared the dimensions of the Jimny 5 door variant and new data now show the world debut timeline and engine details of the Jimny 5 door system.

Autoc-one reports that the Jimny 5 door is set to be a world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show this year, scheduled for October 2021, but the event will not be publicly unveiled until next year due to the global pandemic.

As previously mentioned by us, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door comes with a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine which will produce about 102hp in some markets such as ours. A strong and versatile variant of Maruti’s intelligent hybrid technology is also expected to lend a helping hand. Otherwise, the 1.5-liter engine will be comparably in use on our market but will have a little more torque in the Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, Ciaz, and the Ertiga. The Gearbox features a 5-speed manual and an automatic four-speed torque transformer.

There are also reports of Jimny being upgraded abroad with a turbocharged, mild-hybrid powertrain. The Jimnys cleaner and more powerful powerpack could help reduce CO2 levels in Europe last year because of the high CO2 ranking. In fact, this might make the model’s return to Europe easier. Suzuki has a 1.4-liter Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine, but the specifics are limited, and it also has a 48v mild-hybrid tech. This engine is actually used in such models as the Vitara SUV and, to name but a handful, the European-spec S-Cross.

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is based on the Jimny Sierra model shown in India at the Auto Expo 2020 according to creative 311. The 5-door Jimny is measured in length of 3,850 mm, width 1,645 mm, and height 1,730 mm. It will have a 2550mm wheelbase, a 300mm improvement over the three-door Jimny, which has a 2250mm wheelbase, and a total length of 3550mm. The 5-door Jimny will weigh 1,190 kg and 100 kg more than its three-door variant. It will have an area of 210 mm.

India is regarded as one of the Jimny 5-door leading markets. The production of the three-door Jimny has already begun and the SUV is now exported to foreign markets. The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is anticipated to be launched in India but due to the current pandemic, its launch time can be postponed.
