Upcoming Toyota urban cruiser could be the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Toyota urban cruiser could be the production name of the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sometime in late July or August which Toyota has trademarked. With the Vitara Brezza being an urban crossover, the Urban Cruiser name could make its way for Toyota. Overall prices of the Urban Cruiser will be close to those of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, ranging from around Rs 7.5 to 11.5 lakh. Toyota will tempt customers by loading its top model variants with more features and providing 3-year of the warranty pack.
Toyota focused on the steering, alloys, grille, and the tailgate. It will be boosted by a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that makes 103.5bhp and 138Nm of peak torque. There will be no sheet-metal changes, with even alloy wheels carried over from Maruti Suzuki’s compact SUV.
The present Brezza’s cabin is a mass of grey plastic and, to give it a classy look it will make some important changes to the interior. Toyota will use lighter colors and minimal ‘graphics’. Toyota’s Urban Cruiser will be the first of the compact SUVs to come up with the hybrid technology on the manual version which is acknowledged as an important fuel-saving measure.
Meanwhile, the non-hybrid manual Vitara Brezza (normally a manual is more efficient than its automatic counterpart) is currently only rated at 17.03kpl.
This will be the rival of Hyundai Venue. It will also compete against the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
